A really confusing part of religion... Anybody?

The bible says the Jewish killed Jesus, right? But then it also says Jesus died for our sins... this makes no sense to me. The jews killed him, he didn't CHOOSE to die. he cant just say, "Im dying either way, so it might as well be for other people." But that wasnt the reason he died! it was because other people killed him! unless im wrong idk... just real confusing!
