Question About The Dark-Hunter Series?

I have read the book "Infinity" by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I loved it. I am about to purchase the second in the series but I have not read any books in the actually Dark Hunters series. I would love to read them, but there are 15 books. (I think) There are certain ones I have read a synopsis of and I was curious if I can just read one alone. Like can I read a random book out of the series and know what is going on? Or does it all go in order? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
