Copyrigting a comic book/graphic novel?

I'm working on the story of a gaphic novel (but can't draw lol). I have a title for both parts of my series. I know for screenplays you can copyright treatments, but can you make a "treatment" of a graphic novel? I was thinking about having an illustrator draw the main characters and have a synopsis of the series submitted with them to be copywritten. Would that work?
